The Art of Protection

The Art of Protection

The Deeper You Go, The Brighter You Shine, The More You Need Protection.

When you first begin your craft, everything feels soft, exciting, and harmless. You’re lighting candles, pulling cards, connecting with your intuition. It’s peaceful, empowering, even. But as you continue your practice, you naturally begin reaching deeper into unseen layers of energy and consciousness. You start opening doors, not all of them visible, not all of them gentle, and that’s exactly why spiritual protection is not optional. It’s essential.

The truth is, energy work is exposure. Every time you raise energy, call in spirits, channel intention, or interact with the astral, you become more magnetic. Your energy shines brighter, and with that brightness comes attention, both from benevolent forces and from stagnant, heavy, or curious energies & entities that are drawn to your light. Think of it like lighting a candle in the dark: light attracts beauty, but it also attracts moths.

This isn’t to scare anyone. It’s about awareness. Where there is great light, there is also great shadow, and to walk between both worlds safely, you need to maintain your own energetic hygiene. Just like a surgeon wouldn’t operate without sterilizing their tools, a witch shouldn’t work without cleansing and protecting their space, their tools, and themselves.

Protection isn’t just about “banishing bad vibes.” It’s about energetic stability, creating a shield strong enough to hold your power without leaking or absorbing from others. It keeps your intuition clear, your dreams undisturbed, and your manifestations pure. It ensures that what you send out comes from you, not from interference.

If you’re casting, conjuring, or meditating multiple times a week, you should be cleansing and protecting just as often, if not more. That means cleansing your space before and after spellwork, anointing yourself with protective oils, wearing talismans or charms, or setting wards that filter energy like a spiritual air purifier.

Now, this doesn’t mean your protection practice needs to be so dramatic that it takes up all your time or stops you from doing the fun, creative parts of your craft. There are ways to go about it efficiently. Aside from my house wards, when I shower I surround myself with a white protective light. When I’m casting, I burn protective incense before and after, (most days it’s burning even when I’m not casting). I use my Banish, Cleanse, Protect Scrub at least once a week, and my Protection Balm comes with me everywhere. I also bounce between a cleanse/protect steamer or bath salt (when bathing). It’s simple mundane, consistent maintenance that keeps my energy clean, strong, and balanced without feeling like a chore.

Protection is not fear. It’s maintenance. It’s the quiet discipline behind the glamour, the sacred boundary that allows your practice to expand safely. Magic is both light and shadow, and learning to navigate both is what makes you powerful.

So before your next ritual, take a moment to ground, cleanse, and shield. Keep your light bright, but protected.

With love & Light,
